creative party place - i was featured

I got a little after holiday gift today when I opened my emails...

The kickball party I put together for my daughter Megan was featured over at Creative Party Place. You can check out my party along with an adorable polka dot party here.

A big thanks to Shannon over at Creative Party Place for sharing my kickball shindig.

On a more personal note - hope everyone enjoyed a lovely holiday. I have enjoyed time spent with family and friends this Christmas and am looking forward to this week with my husband on vacation from work. Our schedule includes a few trips to Disneyland (thanks for the passes Santa), a trip to the snow with extended family, some house cleaning (not fun but oh so necessary after the whirlwind of Christmas) and I'm hoping some days spent at home relaxing in jammies.

After our little stay-cation it's back to school for the kids and work for the husband while I get back to my normal routine. As for party planning I have a Spring Formal to decorate for in April so I'll be scouring books, magazines, blogs and more searching for ideas. The theme they gave me was...Old Hollywood. I welcome any and all ideas or links to ideas so please do not be shy about commenting.

are you ready for some kickball?

To celebrate (or mourn) the end of Summer my daughter is having an end of Summer kickball party this weekend. Fun, right?

Here is the invite I came up with.
I created it with Illustrator but you could use whatever program you have.  The main text is [ank]*, "kickball" was done with Hard Rock and all the paint splats are Split Splat Splodge.  All these fonts are free from Dafont.  Oh, I forgot - the text on the player registration form is Century Gothic which is just on my computer.

Between the invite section and the player registration form I used a perforation blade to perforate the paper making it easy for guests to tear off their form and get it back to us.

I am now working on team shirts and finalizing a few other party details.  This won't be some elaborate party with great decor but I do think it will be fun for all involved.

Check back next week to see pictures of what is sure to be a heated competition.

NOTE:  After posting I realized that the invite size is extremely small and hard to see.  If you are interested in the invite and would like to get a better look email me or give me your email address and I will send over a copy.

recovering

We have been gone quite a bit on various vacations for family reunions and weddings - had a great time but am now bogged down with the realities of life like laundry, laundry and  more laundry (not to mention school starting up in a few weeks)

I am in the middle of party planning - September 6th my daughter is having a  farewell to Summer party...Extreme Kickball Showdown.  It should be a lot of fun.  I'll post some of our ideas here soon, along with pictures.

it's my blog, so there

I realize that I may possibly be breaking some party blog oath that exists somewhere in the party world universe by posting pictures of my kids.  I mean after all what do my kids (cute kids, I might add) have to do with parties?  Not much I guess, although most of the parties I have thrown in my time have been for them.    They have also been incredibly understanding at those times when I turn into psychotic party planning mom you know the one that tends to scream and yell because of the party planning stress and forgets to make dinner for a couple nights in a row because she just has to have a bit more time to work out the centerpiece.

In reality I just wanted to posts pictures of my kids because we just did a great shoot with some awesome photographers and I'm a proud momma.  Besides, with the abundance of work being undertaken at the moment because of the move I need a small moment of stress relief and wanted to post and I don't have a single party idea floating in my heard - well, that's not entirely true...I did think of a fun party that is a take off of an HGTV show - but I'm not taking the time to post it.

So if you are interested in taking a peek at my personal life and seeing the 4 little ones that I call mine you can visit Jay Reilly's site here or Ashlee Raubach's blog here.  There are pictures of a lot of kids - mine are the 2 older girls (plaid shirt and striped blue and yellow shirt) and the 2 boys (9 & 7 yrs old with short hair)
